Laura McBride, bestselling author of We Are Called to Rise, will be a featured speaker at the March 7 meeting at 7pm. The topic “Writing About Vegas” may be of interest to many of our members who set their stories locally.
Laura McBride is the author of We Are Called to Rise, which was published by Simon & Schuster in 2014. The novel was a #1 IndieNext pick and a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers choice in the US, and a BBC Simon Mayo Radio2 Book Club choice and a Waterstones Book Club pick in the UK. It received positive reviews nationally and internationally, including a starred review from Library Journal and a A- review from Entertainment Weekly. Laura McBride was a 2012 Yaddo fellow and the 2015 recipient of the Silver Pen Award from the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame.
