Mentors Needed

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is searching for Mentors for their annual program.

The application time period is open until June 15. NV SCBWI is an all volunteer organization of writers and illustrators helping each other to create an arts community for children’s literature.

Ellen Hopkins and Suzanne Morgan Williams founded the program and we have kept it going.

They have hired 9 authors and one children’s book art director from Chronicle Books to become mentors for a six month time period where they will have writers revised their manuscripts in hopes of having it be ready for literary agent representation.

Each mentor will take up to 3 mentees.

All of the information is on their website: SCBWI

The mentors are paid but not their usual rate since they are doing this to help other writers. NV SCBWI tries best to break even, although in the past they’ve lost money and have events all year long to try to make up the difference.
